A new cold front forewarns temperatures about eleven degrees below freezing in Mobile and nearby areas. The national storm system brings unusually cold weather across the South with Georgia and other states experiencing wintry conditions.

Private Ho ward P. McPherson of Birmingham Ala was convicted of desertion and breach of arrest by a general court martial approved by General John L. Hayden. He faces ten years hard labor at Fort Leavenworth Kansas with no discharge at term end. McPherson was found guilty of deserting while stationed at Camp Wheeler October 1 and arrested in Birmingham November 21.
