Omer R. Woods, convicted of murdering his wife, was executed at 8 17 this morning at the Utah state prison. He maintained his innocence to the end and forgave his enemies, saying he would meet the Judge with a peaceful heart. The crime involved slaying an invalid wife and attempting to burn the body.

Tanner-Williams and Theodore high schools contest both girls and boys on the upper MCA court in Mobile. The Tanner-Williams girls face Theodore girls at 1 30 while the Tanner-Williams boys meet Theodore boys at 2. Other evening matches include Commercial League games on the upper floor and lower court clashes such as Monk Juniors versus Kittrell Milling Mo Company at 8 and Heavyweights against Washington Squares at 8 50 with Mobile Paints meeting Rangers at 9 00.
Surgeon General Hugh Cummings will visit Mobile in a few days to inspect the quarantine station near Fort Morgan Sand Island in Mobile Bay. He plans a thorough review of the local situation and possible construction of a new station, with a Congress bill proposing a $500 appropriation.

Washington Jan. 18 Senator King Democrat of Utah introduced a sweeping tax relief plan aiming to reduce overall taxes by about 390 million dollars. The bill lowers rates for high earners from eight to five percent and expands exemptions for single and married filers, while repealing most nuisance and amusement taxes. The measure targets income groups with less than five thousand dollars annual income and projects substantial annual savings, with the plan totaling roughly 135 million in nuisance tax relief and about 90 million in surplus tax cuts.
