A frame house at 813 South Wilkinson Street burned completely late Sunday while adjacent structures at 811 and 817 South Wilkinson suffered roof damage from sparks. Fire Chief Myrick cited high southwest winds driving embers from a furnace stack as the cause as firefighters contained the blaze amid several alarms including a false alarm at 1010 South Broad Street and a reported courthouse fire that turned out to be harmless.
