Cyclops faces murder charge in January court date
Sylvester Powell known as Cyclops, a negro, is charged with murder in the killing of Jes sie Nettles at Knox and Joachim streets. He was arraigned in recorder's court with hearing set for January 18 after a continuance requested by Assistant Solicitor Jack Courtney. Nettles died at City Hospital after being shot Monday afternoon during a scuffle with Powell and others. witnesses say Powell wielded a pistol amid a crowd and Nettles was struck, then shot. Powell had been seen as an assistant to federal agents during raids and was fined $25 for disorderly conduct in a separate incident involving Miss Arco McClure's car.

Steamship Suriname to Enter Todd Dry Docks for Repairs
The United Fruit Company steamer Suriname, a combination freight and passenger vessel, will be dry docked at Todd Shipbuilding and Drydock Company in Mobile for extensive repairs. The work includes overhauling and replacing the rudder, with a 20 day port stay. Todd won the contract by bidding lower than yards in New Orleans Galveston and Pensacola.
