George Dewey Felts of Bayou La Batre died after a fall from a trap door at Bishop Manor Farms near Irvington. He died in Mobile at 1 o'clock today after being found on the floor last night. He leaves a wife, parents Monroe Felts and Mrs Sallie Arnett Felts, two brothers Harry and William, two sisters Mrs Mary Ward and Alice Bosarge, and other relatives. Interment is at Bayou La Barre. funeral Sunday afternoon time to be announced.
The Daphne Transportation Company asks the Public Service Commission to cut rates on coal furnaces from Daphne to Mobile from 15 to 2 cents each. Furnaces are produced in Daphne and shipped for export, per chamber of commerce traffic department records.

Walter F. Davis former Mobilian and director of the Metropolitan theatres of Canada arrives to visit his mother Mrs. H. F. Davis and brothers A. D. and John Davis. He is accompanied by Mrs. Davis and will stay two weeks. Davis was among the first motion picture operators in the United States.
Alonzo Bradley Jr. was named as special deputy sheriff for the Mount Vernon precinct by Sheriff Leon Schwartz today. Bradley, a World War I veteran who served in police intelligence, will assist Deputy Sheriff Henry Cannon in special work among Negroes.

Sidney Metcalfe was found guilty of second degree murder in the Constantine case at Lawrence and Virginia Street last December. Willie Woolsey, a state witness, was jailed on a perjury bench warrant after claiming he was at the illicit still whenever officers visited. Judge Berney scolded Metcalfe for perjury and ordered a stiff sentence.
An attempted burglary at the Palm Oil Company office ended with a hacksaw used and tools left behind. Detectives Moody and Franco say the intruders were likely amateurs as the safe front was damaged but not opened. Workers found a bundle of rags and noted a man fleeing north along nearby railroad tracks.
