Detectives Moody Franco and Officer Darnell chased a burglar along the riverfront between Charleston and Texas streets after a theft at the Texas cafe near Ebmir street. The intruder fled after overturning tables. A federal government watchman reported two Johnson engines stolen near St Francis Street.

Suspect Charles Taylor Faces Recorder on Suspicious Charge
Charles Taylor of 216 South Jeffer street appeared Thursday morning before the recorder on a dangerous and suspicious charge filed by Tom Ford of 165 St. Emanuel street. Ford said a white man was seen trying to start his car at 3 am and Taylor was chased and arrested before being turned over to police. Taylor claims he was seeking a friend's car and meant no criminal act. The case was continued for further investigation.

Trial Postponed in Counterfeit Quarters Case
Willie Burke of Edith Street near Marshall's Alley was arrested Wednesday night on possession of counterfeit quarters. The recorder's court reset the general charge for morning as the case was sent to the federal Secret Service for investigation. Detectives Bauer Burch Bernstein and Farmer arrested Burke while attempting to pass the money.
