Jewe y Hamilton age 22 of Prichard Alabama was drowned in a log pond at Wagar Alabama according to news received yesterday. He had been employed at Wagar for several months and the belief is he was patching in pew poss when the accident occurred. He was the son of C D Hamilton and leaves parents five brothers and other relatives.
The forecast calls for fair weather in Central and Western regions, with possible thunderstorms in the eastern area. Pleasant and dry conditions expected through Wednesday, according to Associated Press.
Marshall P. Levy, retired Mobile clothing and hat merchant, died last night in New York at about eighty. He came to Mobile from Enterprise, Mississippi, and built a large wholesale business on Water Street. Survived by his widow, seven children, and relatives in Mobile. home split between Mobile and New York for twenty‑five years. Funeral details not released.
The government sale of surplus army food reopened at the Mobile post office this morning. Early orders were modest but several large purchases followed as most of Mobile’s quota remained for sale and a list from the postmaster showed many items already disposed of.
The Associated Press reports cotton futures in New York opening steady on August 26 with October at 31.40, December at 31.85, January at 31.80, March at 32.00, and May at 32.02.

CHARLOTTE N C Aug 26 This city is quiet today after rioting by street car strike sympathizers at the company barns last night left four men dead and thirteen injured. State militia arrived and more units are en route. The mayor has sworn in hundreds to guard the city hall car barns and main streets. No street cars are operating today.
Mobile harbor officials said W F Donnelly has not advised when he will arrive to discuss his survey report. He was due last week and missed the Friday visit. Board expects his appearance soon but will take no action on the New York engineer’s survey until his testimony.
