Oyster Inspection to Begin Sept 1 in City
Chief State Oyster Inspector George Sprinkles announced the opening of the oyster season on September 1 at the foot of Eslava street to collect taxes and ensure culling laws are followed. Fire at Barton Academy coal shed causes slight damage
A small blaze was found in the Barton Academy boiler room at 6 45 this morning and was extinguished with minor damage to the building. The fire department, alerted by a Station 42 alarm, used one company. Loss estimated at 300 dollars. Road Worker Jailed in Arkansas Slaying Case
J D Davis a 30 year old road worker was jailed in Craighead County Arkansas without bail on an affidavit naming him in the brutal murder of Alma Curry and her nine year old daughter Verny at Webb's Mill near Nettleton.
