The steamer Point Reyes bound from Tampa to Mobile rode a northeast squall into the bay last night. The ship grounded on the west bank with no injuries reported and tug Echo from Mobile Wrecking to assist.
Palatka Florida officials announce a social investigation to identify the six months of outrages in Putnam County. Subpoenas for seven witnesses have been issued and served. Frank Waymer Munici Green Chief of Police and two other Atlantic Line railroad officers are among those ordered to appear for the state attorney. Sheriff R J Cock has been ousted and A Liner assigned in the case. The inquiry concerns the deaths of seven negroes and two masked assailants shot on the night of August three.
Police pursue a hit and run driver after a collision at Stop and La Fayette. R. B. Nash injured. Nash faces reckless driving charge. In court this morning, Oney Moore fined 100 dollars or 90 days. another case involved language offense raising fines. Several others fined for fighting amid disputed racial taunts.

The forecast calls for fair conditions in the interior of Alabama with showers along the coast tonight. Tuesday may bring local thunder showers and moderate to brisk east winds.

New Orleans August 23 The government seed on the cotton crop surprised traders with an indicated yield of 5 248 000 bales and a condition of 685 The market jumped with prices rising with New Orleans trading at 17 45 for spot and December 17 40 for January with gains of 81 to 95 points from bureau levels, about 4 to 450 per bale.

In New York on Aug 23 Everett Holton 45 fired at police from his Jamaica home after a threating spree. Twelve officers were sent and Brooklyn tear gas bombs were used to force him out, he collapsed and was hospitalized.
Jack Lance, arrested in Jacksonville Florida, is identified by three persons as the man seen with Bert Donaldson the night of July 29 when the county solicitor general's investigator was ambushed and killed in a local hotel. Police say Lance belonged to a gambling syndicate targeted by Donaldson. Lance was brought to Atlanta and identified after riding the hotel elevator with a man named Tennaston, then the investigator’s body was found.
Two men from Atlanta representing the Chamberlain Metal Weather Strip Company were installing a weather strip in the Van Antwerp building when a chain broke causing a fall. Lively fell first, catching a ladder and injuring Cooper who tumbled onto a showcase. Both were cut, with one seriously hurt and taken to City Hospital.
