Special to The News-Item Montgomery Aug 14 The Fourth Alabama Infantry is ordered to a seaport to embark for France. The regiment will be filled to war strength and entrain for embarkation after receiving the telegraph orders from the war department. Mobile boys from the First Alabama Infantry are to transfer about 500 men to the Fourth to join the regular army unit. They will travel to an Atlantic port and go abroad under convoy, then train behind trenches before entering the firing line, possibly by Christmas Day. The war department plans national guard units from twenty six states to form the 42nd division with brigades and machine gun battalions assigned.
