Relatives in Mobile to see the First Regiment A N G as they pass through en route to the border. Brigadier General Bricken states departure time to be announced later and approval for a short stop with a parade and entertainment arranged with Col. Maddox.
General Bricken told the chamber the press will carry the exact day and hour of departure. He hopes the troops leave the estate capital in the morning and reach Mobile by midday or early afternoon.
Montgomery Sept 29 Special government plans for moving the Alabama brigade include the First Regiment traveling via Mobile and New Orleans. The Mobile Chamber of Commerce urged the route, with Batteries A and C of Birmingham to move via Mobile and Ohio through Tuscaloosa and Shreveport. Infantry regiments await orders, expected within a week, with departure within two weeks.
Louis Thublin Jr and Perry Quincy were discharged by the recorder on reckless driving charges after a Hamilton Conti street collision involving a Frederic Dry Cleaning truck and a J G Tyrrell car. Beville was cleared. Beville not to blame for a crash with Smiths Bakery truck. Knowles failed to appear and was held for re-arrest.
Jacob Henkel a consul and widower offers marriage to Miss Anna Kuhnel who sues for 50000 in breach of promise. The filing notes Henkel will appear at the marriage bureau next Monday with the plaintiff to marry or end the suit. Kuhnel will decide by Sunday whether to wed or withdraw.
Directors of the Gulf Coast Product Exchange met this morning as W L Robinson of the Southern Railway outlined how other exchanges handle farm products and fruits. He urged the local group to route its goods through the market exchange to streamline advertising and sales with coordinated handling.

The British schooner Blandford, captained by Mobile resident Captain Publicover, was dismasted and damaged by a Gulf of Mexico hurricane after leaving Jacksonville for Port of Spain. She previously wrecked in June and July and has now been sent to St Thomas in the Danish West Indies for repairs.
Fred Turnpenny, Baldwin county convict, escaped from the state prison at Speigner after declaring he would not serve his sentence. He was recaptured after July escape and is wanted by federal authorities at Mobile on additional charges. Accompanied by Cornelius Stroper of Mobile who faced grand larceny sentences totaling six years and two days. The state convict department has a holdover and offers a fifty dollar reward for each arrest.
New York trading features extraordinary demand across iron and steel stocks led by Republic Iron and Steel. United States Steel and a few peers lagged, while Lackawanna Crucible Slossfield Gulf States Steels Colorado Fuel and Great Northern Ore American Car Railway Steel Springs and Baldwin Locomotive showed notable gains as prices surged through the session.

Mrs Joseph Le Duc of Chicago, gravely wounded in a hotel triple shooting, shows improved condition in Philadelphia. Surgeons hope to operate to remove a steel jacketed bullet near her left ribs if her strength grows. Le Duc’s husband says he has received many supportive telegrams for his stance on upholding honor. Relatives of Mrs Belzer of New York seek to prove her integrity as the case develops.
The weather office reports heavy frost across the Middle West and parts of Oklahoma Iowa and Nebraska. Temperatures sank to as low as 26 degrees with a strong cold spell affecting the region.
Florida dispatch reports Bert Alderman and Jim Tucker hiding on a Chokoloskee bay island after bank robbery on the east coast. Frank Rice, captured bandit, says brother Leland led the gang. Leland was killed during the chase. Rice pins the shooting on Tucker and Alderman. officials fear a final standoff if confronted.
Harvard professor Hugo Munsterberg will testify in the trial of Albert J. Ro of Boston charged with the murder of his father. The case is described as highly significant for its psychological aspects and the impact of delayed testimony on criminal prosecutions.
R W Minor a Limestone county farmer admitted he shot and killed his wife Teresa Minor and his stepson Cembron Hardeman after his stepson attacked him with a knife. Minor said his wife stepped between them and he fired a second time killing her. He is hospitalized with serious lacerations and is expected to recover.
London news reports Sir William Henry Dunn elected Lord Mayor. he will assume office in November as the third Roman Catholic lord mayor in recent years. Dunn serves as treasurer of the Alton Cripples' Home.
A rear room of the two story building at 154 South Joachim street owned and occupied by H. W. Shields was slightly damaged by fire at 10 40 o clock. An iron from ignited clothing starting the blaze according to reports.
Berlin reports General von Wendel the deputy minister of war has been dismissed from the war ministry, according to an official government statement issued today.
London dispatch reports German Chancellor von Bethmann-Hollweg telling the Reichstag that the Somme allies cannot break German lines. He warned of continued sacrifices as the battle widens, noted Russian offensives on the eastern front, and said Romania’s entry could bring Turkey and Bulgaria into the war, but Romania’s betrayal would haunt the Entente.

HARATOGA SPRINGS N Y Sept 29 Charles B E Hughes continued his statewide political circuit with a strenuous schedule. He began at 4 30 a m and planned fourteen stops including Oneonta Binghamton Elmira and Hornell where he spent the night after an afternoon address.
London dispatch reports that French forces and the British have captured additional ground on the Somme front. The advance lies between Frégicourt and Morval toward Sailly on the Peronne Bapaume road north of Rancourt, where the German wedge near Baï and Peronne is nearly crushed.
London dispatch reports a dawn advance by British forces capturing a well defended farm 500 yards southwest of Le Sars. The front showed quiet for most of the night with activity near Schwaben redoubt and the Russian trench while air scouts noted a massive explosion north of Ytres and southeast of Bapaume as ammunition dumps blew up.
Paris reports further progress by French forces between Fregicourt and Morval on the Somme. On the Saloniki front Serbian troops repulsed four Bulgarian attacks at Kaimakcalan.
