Berlin via London reports several major generals among killed field officers in the fighting in France. Von Gotha and Von Nieland are named as casualties with others wounded. Premier von Weizsacker and Finance Minister von Unig lose status. Prince Frederick William of Jesse wounded in the breast. Large trains of wounded moved to base hospitals in Germany. only the severely wounded remain at front hospitals. The 1913 officer register does not list Von Gotha or Von Nieland. possible postwar promotions may explain discrepancies.
A wounded German uhlan photographed being moved from a taxicab to a hospital ship at Ostend was identified by a bystander as a former Ostend railroad employee who hated his homeland. A court martial found a Red Cross emblem on him. after cross-examination he was executed fifteen minutes later.

John Murray opened the house Tuesday and saw the boys jump from a back window. Murray and Walter Inge chased with Officer Pistole and Harris who left the station on his bicycle. The pair were caught on Hallet street. They were inside the house and alleged to be stealing fixtures.
Sidney Steinan deputy collector of port said a wireless message was sent to Fort Morgan operator asking if heavy firing off Mobile bar was true. The Echo tug crew, arriving from Fort Morgan, also denied the report. The customs collector acts as neutrality news censor.
