Athens expects within twenty four hours the release of Greek vessels seized by Turkey and asks compensation for owners in a note to be delivered in Constantinople. London circles view the move as an ultimatum likely to provoke immediate war and predict Turkish refusal.
The Bulgarian Servian and Grek ministers have orders to depart on notice from their capitals. Diplomatic rupture between the Balkan states and the Ottoman empire is anticipated hourly in Constantinople as of October 14.
An official report to Consul in London details Montenegro and Turkish casualties after a major assault on a town in the Banat area. Montenegrin forces under General Martinovitch reported 100 casualties while clashes near Tara Kesch yielded about 300 Turkish killed and wounded. Malissori tribesmen near Scutari joined the Montenegrins.
Sixty Greek residents met in New Orleans to organize volunteers against the Turks. A committee was formed to raise funds for transport to New York where the volunteers will board Greek transports. Gulfport delegates pledged to join when New Orleans Greeks depart.
Constantinople reports the Turkish government will not permit outside powers to intervene in Macedonian reforms. Belgrade reports Turkish forces crossed the Gervian frontier at Ristovatz near Vranya at 5 this morning and attacked the Servian garrison. Fighting continued when the dispatch was issued according to the Servian general in command.
Berlin dispatch says Servian government proclaims the Turkish attack on Servia shows no reform intent. Servian troops repulse a surprise Turkish advance on the frontier at Belgrade announcing readiness to defend the nation.
The Mobile County Civic League reports ongoing indiscriminate slaughter of birds despite letters to the state game commissioner. It urges stronger action and argues wardens rely on fines for pay, hindering enforcement and prompting selective arrests. It calls for compensation changes to boost warden efficiency.
Mrs. Cora Moore and her eighteen month old child from Jackson Alabama seek placement in a home. After a brief stay with the Salvation Army and a return from an attempted placement in Coden the pair received lodging near the terminal and will be housed by the Boys' Club for several days while a permanent home is sought. The child is at the Protestant Orphan Asylum on Dauphin Street and both need clothing and support.
Peter White was convicted of assault with a knife on Etta Sims in the recorder's court this morning and sentenced to pay a $51 fine plus costs or serve thirty days of hard labor.

In St Louis on October 14 a fourth attempt to prove the death of George A. Kimmel begins. The case seeks $14,000 from a New York insurance company, filed by Edna Bonslett of Chicago, a sister of Kimmel. Andrew J White claims to be Kimmel and may testify. he says memory loss was cured after an operation. The original Kimmel was born in Niles Michigan and once cashiered in Kansas City before vanishing from a Kansas City hotel in 1898.
Servians and Bulgars unite to press the Ottoman government for reforms in the empire. The response demands equal schooling, parliamentary representation, and Christian admin admission across all branches. A Balkan commission under powers is proposed to oversee implementation as Servian troops move toward Koestendil to join Bulgarian forces.
A mass breakout at the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins left two men dead and several convicts escaping with guns and knives. A deputy killed one escapee, guards and prisoners fought, and a livery-stable owner was wounded while aiding in recapture efforts.
