The Chamber of Commerce was informed that financing for the creamery project has been arranged. A new building will be erected and banks in several counties will directly finance the additional cows, after a withdrawal by Colonel J M Bain of Pittsburgh.
Figures from the U S Department of Commerce show Mobile's seven month foreign trade up 33 4 percent from a year earlier with exports rising 35 percent and imports up 21 4 percent The Gulf ports as a group show declines in exports 5 percent and imports 15 percent for the period Also report notes Austro German forces invading Romania and Bavarian troops advancing past Rothenthurm pass on the border.
One hundred cream separators will be supplied by the creamery to farmers as planned, financed by 5 percent of the cream. The notes were revised per recommendations from the Chamber of Commerce special committee after reviewing the first contract.
Mr. L. Irvine remains president as the creamery opens on a limited scale. Irvine says the plant will produce 500 pounds of butter per day but will begin with about 500 gallons of cream daily until fully underway.
A convoy of automobiles carrying Mobile residents and officials left at noon to meet the Jackson Highway pathfinders at the Mississippi line and escort them into Mobile. The first car carried L. G. Adams and others, followed by multiple cars including Bancroft, Kemp, and Chamber of Commerce representatives. The procession is to reach Mobile about four with the escort disbanding afterward.
Miss Marie Seabury scenes a large diamond back rattler in her front yard on Eight Mile Sunday afternoon. She retreats indoors to fetch a shotgun and fires, killing the five foot reptile with a single shot. The snake measures five feet long, four inches in diameter, with ten rattles and a button.
Representatives of railroads steamship lines port interests and waterfront trades converge for the State Harbor Commission conference at 11 a m Thursday in the Cawthon Hotel assembly room. premeeting business session at 9 a m in the Bank of Mobile building. Commission members Blair Crawford Ward Rich O Connor Forcheimer present. Taylor absent.
Secretary Greenwood announced that he had received many letters from railroad officials mining and coal companies and waterfront owners promising attendance or representatives at the meeting. The city commissioners Lyons Pillans and Schwarz plan to attend. Three hundred invitation letters were sent from the commission office to interested persons.

The Gulf Coast Produce Exchange arranged to market all locally grown dasheens through a Rochester New York firm. Manager B says doubts about feasibility were eased as the plan provides a dependable market for the Chilean crops and related products.
An automobile driven by Dr. J Howard was struck by a falling limb on St. Freet near Main Street. The impact caused minor injuries to the driver and damage to the vehicle. Authorities investigated the incident and warned residents about unstable limbs along the roadway.
A marriage license was issued to T. J. Bisley of Wilmer and Nancy J. Stewart of Semmes. The groom was 72 and the bride 51, each having three prior marriages. Additional licenses issued to white couples include Martin H. Brinkman and Edna W. Shields, Steve H. Beck and Mary Grace Stovah.
Christiania reports Norway has lost 171 ships totaling 235000 tons since the war began due to mines and submarines. The vessels were valued at 84000000 crowns and 140 sailors have died.
Tomorrow Columbus Day will be observed as a legal holiday in Mobile. All banks close under Mobile Clearing House Association order. Public buildings and courts observe the holiday. post office hours drop to Sunday. city hall closes after noon.
Messrs G J Sullivan and T M Stevens have been named members of the appointing board for the general election in November. They replace Judge Frice Williams of the probate court and Clerk H Smith who are disqualified from duties by reason of candidacy. The appointments were made by Carl Holzborn registrar in chancery.
City health board inspectors will examine all sewer connections to raise health standards. Broken or improperly installed ties will be repaired at once, with rigid enforcement of the law as stated by City Officer Charles A. Mohr.
Berlin reports German troops in a salient toward Vermandovillers on the Somme have been cut off by French forces in the battle line south of the river.
British official statement says troops from key towns in Greek Macedonia, recently captured by Bulgarians, retook two towns east of the Struma river after Romania joined the war.
A British official statement from Saloniki describes a sustained offensive forcing a Struma pass. The report notes heavy fighting south and southeast of Monastir with Serbian progress and suggests operations aim to relieve pressure on hard pressed Romanians. Weather reports say the disturbance near Porto Rico has moved away toward the north and is no longer threatening the Gulf Coast for now. Officials note the system remains over the Caribbean Sea with potential further activity to monitor.
Montgomery, Oct 11 Special The present death rate among Confederate pensioners could leave Alabama without a pensioner on the rolls in ten years. Auditors reports show about two thousand pensioners still drawing state pensions and nearly fifty thousand dollars of the pension fund left in the treasury for distribution to others during the last quarter. The state is expected to pay all living pensioners their full four quarterly amounts in the last year of the fiscal year.
Farmers gather at Gulf Coast Produce Exchange on Saturday to start at 1 PM. Evan B. Davis, manager, announced the meeting at the exchange quarters.
In Racine Wisconsin on October 11 Red Dolan of New Orleans Rehewnens defeated Mattie Smith of Racine in a ten round no decision boxing match.
Chancellor T H Smith issued a temporary injunction against J M Walsh R P Pope John M Dorgan KE Murray Claude Kimball and others barring them from disposing of any shares of the company stock without a stockholders meeting The writ followed a suit by Stevens McCorvey McLeod alleging directors sought to sell 199 shares to the Bisso Towboat Company in a non bona fide offer and that no sale was intended
Members of the Mobile Bar Association met at noon Wednesday in the U.S. District Court and adjourned without endorsing any candidate for United States district judge. President Stewart Brooks presided as discussion on Judge Harry Toulmin's resignation continued from the prior meeting. No new candidates were reported entering the race.
Whiie Martin Dave Giles and W H Shields were fined 23 50 and costs by Judge Chamberlain in the inferior criminal court for failing to work the public road. In the first inning Boston-Marquard retired Hooper at first and struck out Janvrin and Walker. Brooksohnston doubled to center. Johnston scored on Myers drive. Merkle walked, Wheat forced Merkle, Gardner, to Janvrin. Myers scored on an error. Cutshaw advanced, then two runners moved with a double steal attempt contact. Carrigan tried to pick off Cutshaw as Wheat was caught at third. Two runs, two hits, one error.
In the second inning Boston Hoblitzell walked as Marquard struggled with control Lewis doubled to the right field wall sending Hoblitzell to third Gardner followed with a center field homer driving in three runs. Brooklyn’s defense held after that with outs and runners stranded as Marquard rebounded.
Boston-Cutshaw fielded Janvrin's grounder for a close out as Walker beat out an infield hit. Hoblitzell flied to Myers and Walker was thrown out stealing. No runs and no hits with solid defense from both sides as the pitchers worked slowly.
Boston drives in a run on a grounder by Lewis to third base. Marquard fakes a slow ball. Gardner sacrifice advances Mowrey who throws out Scott. Carrigan singles, Lewis scores. Leonard walks then is doubled up at second on a throw from Meyers to Merkle. One run, two hits, no errors. Ishaw advances to right as Hooper mishandles a ball. Mowrey walks, Olson pops up, Meyers flies out. Pfeffer bats for Marquard and strikes out.
In the seventh, Boston Gardner struck out Scott and Leonard while Carrigan hit a long single to left. Brooklyn’s Mowrey caught Olson, and Janvrin scored on a misplayed ball as Cheney and Zell mishandled grounders. Hooper’s single helped Boston score one run on two hits and one error as the page continues to Page Seven.
The Spanish steamer 3 tonio Lopez reported finding five abandoned boats within three miles of the Nan Shoals lightship off Nantucket, hinting at a possible lead to the Kingstonian crew torpedoed by a German liner. Naval authorities suspended the crew search as the radiogram contained garbled text and uncertain names, with a possible reference to Liverpool.
