Canning Plant at Bayou La Batre to Open Nov 10

The Alabama Canning Company will put its Bayou La Batre plant in full operation between November 1 and 10 for a 150day run. Output aims at 1000 barrels per day with payroll and related spending of 800 to 1000 dollars daily. Frank E. Smee cited assurances after talks with Liloxi officials. The plant will employ oyster catchers and shrimp fishermen, with over 250 extra catchers brought in to meet capacity. Plant capacity is 7500 barrels per day.
