Waste Tanbark Used for Roofing
Washington Oct 7 A Forest Service announcement says waste hemlock tanbark replaces rag stock in felt roofing. Mills replace 20 30 percent of rags with waste bark and finish product matches rag only roofing. The savings stem from reduced material costs as 1909 census estimates heavy bark production. bark also fuels tannin extraction and other potential uses include wallpaper print, wall board, car liners, and sheathing paper.
