London dispatch reports a more hopeful mood as diplomacy pushes toward peace in the Balkan crisis. The powers are said to have reached complete agreement and the Balkan states have moderated demands on Turkey, though frontier fighting continues. Many Greeks in America prepare to respond to a call from home as Porte accepts Italian proposals.
Paris reports Austria Hungary ready to join any united effort to avert hostilities. French peace proposals gain acceptance from Russian Foreign Minister Sazonoff and are expected to be ratified in London Berlin and Vienna. The plan urges Turkey to adapt provisions of the Berlin Treaty granting broader home rule in Macedonia.

The funeral for Lambert P. Baldwin was held Friday at 10 o'clock from his residence at 258 South Georgia Avenue. Relatives and friends largely attended as the remains were laid to rest in Pine Crest Cemetery. Rev. A. G. Richards of Trinity Episcopal Church conducted the service. Pallbearers included James Gibson Louis Hamilton Oliver B. Kearns E. S. Taylor Harry B. Fountain and W. S. Poe.

Dr Charles A Mohr city health officer announced regular inspections of all public eating places including boarding houses. Inspections will rate cleanliness and sanitary excellence using a score card system with Kitchen pantry and dining room conditions and personal cleanliness counted toward a 100 point scale. Score cards will be public records and may be published in newspapers.
The Mobile group will travel to Birmingham for the Alabama Good Roads Association convention led by President John Craft. Delegates include John Craft County Engineer C L Strange John T Bauer F J Andrews Mayor L Schwarz and others from Mobile Citronelle St Elmo Grand Bay Theodore and nearby areas.

Washington Oct 4 The rebel army at Jinotepe Nie about twenty miles south of Managua was captured with all ammunition arms and artillery after a four hours battle with government troops at 1 o'clock yesterday morning. Government troops aimed to join with General Zeledon on the Managua to Granada railway. Admiral Southerland warned Zeledon he would attack with 900 marines if he did not vacate by eight yesterday morning. Result unknown today.
Apron P Worrell of Buchanan Liberia writes to a supposed honorable notary in Mobile asking for information about Rev J W Wood former pastor of the Colored Baptisl Church on state street. Worrell says Wood visited Liberia en route to the gold coast and deposited stones with him in 1910 and wished to hear from Mobile. It is learned Wood had left for Philadelphia to work at HQ there. No such office as honorable notary exists and the letter was opened by James A Crane clerk of the city court.
Chicago Mayor Carter Harrison foresees a possible vote on segregating disorderly districts as a result of a broad vice investigation. State's Attorney Wayman orders hundreds of warrants to arrest operators who rent property for disorderly use in the city.
Nashville dispatch reports Dr. L. N. Walton eighty six, president of the Bank of Allensville Kentucky, married yesterday to Mrs. Andrew McCormick of Clarksville Tennessee. She has nursed him for the past two years.
J Maxwell Gordon, New York journalist and Democratic emissary, visits Mobile on a swing through the South. He says Taft could rival Wilson if the race were six months away, with California possibly for Wilson and Oregon, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho tilting toward Wilson or a three way contest. Gordon forecasts strong Democratic unity and notes women voters favor Wilson in several states. He plans further trips, announcing Montgomery will host 18,000 members as part of his circuit.
Reports from Montgomery say United States Senator John H. Bankhead of Alabama, who ran the Underwood campaign, will be called to testify before the senate committee examining campaign expenditures. The chatter follows Colonel Roosevelt campaign manager Joseph M. Dixon’s claim that the panel focuses on Roosevelt funds, not others. Rumors place Bankhead’s testimony as imminent amid broader talk of Underwood’s spending, including a possible $500000 in his campaign.
