Berlin reports a Turkish fleet engaged a Russian squadron off Sevastopol. One Russian battleship was badly damaged as Turkish and Russian ships fled toward Sevastopol. Separate dispatch notes Goeben injured in a Black Sea encounter.
Reports from London describe stubborn German positions in Flanders despite bad weather and flooded trenches. Allied warships shell inland as operations continue along the coast from the Belgian border to Arras. Belgian forces hold floodbound lines, with some dispatches noting fighting from small boats. England and especially London monitor evolving conditions.
The Selma report on efficiency sparked animated talks as changes in the constitution were discussed. Huntsville was chosen as the next meeting site for Friday November 26 with Rev. A. J. Preston named convention preacher and Jesse A. Cook as alternate. The final session was to be held that evening.

W. W. Baltar, Mobile representative for the proposed Mobile to New Orleans freight line, says operations begin in early December with stops at Pascagoula Biloxi and other points. The line, to be operated by Southeastern Steam Ship Line or Mobile, will offer freight at least twenty percent cheaper than rail and is expected to be permanent benefiting merchants along the route. A large iron side wheel steamer will run Mobile to New Orleans stopping at Biloxi.
Officials of the New York Stock Exchange announced that due to unforeseen difficulties the plan to reopen for bond dealings has been indefinitely postponed. Earlier, officials said trading in bonds would resume on Saturday subject to minimum prices.
Montgomery November report says Ervin Pope, a Black principal linked to many Alabama murder trials, will not be hanged for killing White farmer James McClurkin at Oxford six years ago. Governor O Neal commutes Pope's sentence to life imprisonment.

The steamer Mildred sinking after colliding with the schooner Brazos early today off Egmont Key, five miles southwest of Tampa harbor. Fifteen passengers and crew were rescued, Brazos damaged but afloat, and tugs were sent to tow her to port.
Roger Bresnahan was appointed manager of the Chicago National League Baseball Club. He succeeds Henry O Day after a meeting with club president Thomas Taft. Bresnahan signed a three year contract with undisclosed figures and previously played as catcher for the New York Nationals and managed St Louis Nationals.
Northbound New Orleans and Chicago Limited derailed seventy-one miles south of Montgomery at 6 30 this morning. The engine tank baggage two express cars and one passenger car left the rails while Pullman cars and locomotive stayed on track. Two people were slightly injured including an express messenger from McGehee's Switch and a negro passenger. Officials cited uncertain cause but suspected a broken rail.

Charles Rudolph general passenger agent of the Mobile and Ohio Railroad Company and EB Krause C H Krause BE Hell fenstiller and R J Walson prominent Missouri businessmen arrived in Mobile to hunt and explore for several days. They left their headquarters at Cawthon Hall on Thursday and traveled toward Grand Bay.
