Funeral plans proceed in Tuskegee Alabama for Booker T. Washington founder of Tuskegee Institute who died from a nervous breakdown. Services set for Wednesday at the institute with interment on its grounds and a large turnout expected from educators and leaders nationwide.
Nov 15 dispatch notes renewed uneasiness at Monastir due to a large Bulgarian force threatening the Perlepe front in the Babuna region. Reports say three man submarines use Varna harbor as a base and Turkish troops have arrived at the port as British troops and stores are landed, straining port and rail facilities. On Nov 18 Italian cruiser Piedmontesi destroyed two Bulgarian freight trains near the railroad station, then reached Saloniki.
The West Florida Good Roads Association promotes Pensacola to Marianna as the main Old Spanish Trail line and drops the Bay Minette Flomaton loop. Delegations will press for a Pensacola convention December 8 and 9 to arrange a bond issue for road construction while scouts assess all mapped routes and county interests.
Citrus men at the Cawthon Hotel discussed that framing the nor'wester could save thousands for Satsuma orchard owners. Ripening fruit and extra foliage from near-summer warmth alarm growers, who favor delaying harvest and picking green fruit to avoid damage. A brief Sunday wind caused no reported citrus losses.
The Carranza agency reported the occupation of Naco. Villa troops withdrew toward Villa Verde with 2,000 Carranza cavalry in pursuit, as fighting continued in the region.

J T Schley of Mobile had been president and other Mobile stockholders are named. The company will continue to operate in the coast cities mentioned.

Petrograd November 15 General Ruzsky, amid an aggressive push against Austro Germans in Russia, told the Bourse Gazette that the enemy is not exhausted though retreating. German troops surrender more readily, he said, and privations and cold depress their resolve. He calls the Balkan campaign secondary and not decisive for the war’s fate.

German headquarters claim 8 500 Serbians captured and 7 000 plus six cannons seized by Bulgarians in Serbia as Russians launch a new offensive near Smorgon and Vilna repulsed. Italian losses near Ancora noted with 208 dead and 299 saved from 507 aboard.
Captain Rafaell of the steamer France reports the crew launched small boats as the submarine approached within 100 feet. After all sailors were safely off, the boats linked together with the crimped tires to aid the escape.
Booker T Washington spent late September in Mobile County at Coden with undertaker C W Allen and then left Mobile on October 1 greatly improved in health. He resumed Sunday talks to Tuskegee students and praised Mobile for health. Negro churches in Mobile noted his death in sermons.
In Tuskegee Institute circles the topic of President Booker T. Washington’s successor is carefully avoided. In Montgomery speculation centers on Emmett J. Scott Warren Logan and Dr. Ainsworth as possible successors, with Scott favored for closer ties to Washington’s work and aims.
The Montgomery Alabama Cotton Exchange petitions the Interstate Commerce Commission claiming the Louisville and Nashville Railroad failed to establish concentration and re shipping rates on cotton from points on its lines to Montgomery. Willy G. Holldorf former Spreckles sugar refinery chief chemist and his wife Frida went insane during a St John’s Evangelical Lutheran church service in Yonkers New York. Women fled as the pair tore clothes and yelled incoherently. The husband resisted and needed several men to restrain him. He was later jailed.
Bordeaux reports the Spar steamer Bernabe from Cardiff with coal ran ashore in a gale at Point de la Coubec mouth of the Gironde river. The crew perished and the vessel is believed a total loss.
