Fred C. Neun, iron worker, receives a 25000 court award for injuries from a fall from the Hudson terminal building during construction. The court found negligence by the construction company. Neun relies on a harness to support his head amid fragile condition.
Governor Felker of New Hampshire granted New Yorks extradition request for Harry K Thaw. The case moves to federal court where a habeas corpus writ is pending. Thaw faces conspiracy to escape from Matteawan indictment after fleeing to Canada following the Stanford White killing.
Street car service resumed in Indianapolis after a week of employee strikes. Motormen and conductors, who quit last week, now operate the system under normal supervision. Harley C. Carlton, held at Fort Leavenworth, was released to attend the funeral of Thomas L. Carlton, a chauffeur killed during rioting.
Four street cars operated without interference in Richmond Indiana as motormen and conductors strike begun yesterday showed signs of ending quickly based on today’s developments.
Gerald Richard Richardson son of John H Richardson a wealthy store owner and El Kennedy of Bradford were killed when a freight train wrecked an automobile at West Lake road crossing near Erie. Linlithgowshire Liberal candidate Mr Pratt defeated Unionist James Kidd in yesterday's by election. Pratt secured a reduced majority of 82 votes after initial tallies showed 5,615 for Pratt and 5,533 for Kidd.
General Venustiano Carranza expressed unusual optimism about the Constitutionalist revolution in Mexico. Despatches from Washington and New York suggested U S recognition might be considered, which Carranza said would aid the insurgents. He claimed he could mobilize 100000 men and cheered over a large rifle ammunition shipment at Naco. Dr Henry Allen Tupper visited Tucson on a mission linked to possible Washington action. Military activity in Sonora was suspended as tensions with Washington and Tepic governments grew.
American ambassador James W. Gerrard conferred with German Foreign Office under secretary Dr. Alfred Zimmermann in Berlin. The discussion reportedly concerned the Mexican situation. The German navy also kept the cruiser Hertha in Central American waters ready for possible action on the Mexican coast.
