Meaher Signature Hold-Up Delays One Mile Creek Widening
Government engineers faced difficulty widening One Mile Creek to two hundred feet as Augustine Meaher refused to sign the agreement, unlike other frontage owners. The delay stems from his protest of a prior river commission order restricting boat houses from the harbor approach. Colonel Keller promised to remove the sand-bar to open a straight channel under the Louisville and Nashville bridge, allowing the project to proceed if Meaher signs.
