Marshal Jails Post Violators in Alabama Black Belt
United States Marshal Gewin returned from a trip into the black belt and arrested three violators of postal laws. Willie Johnson and Jesse Pitts were arrested in Uniontown for theft of mail matter under section 194. Dawson was arrested in Serlin Dallas County for altering a money order. All received preliminary hearings before U S Commissioner Campbell in Selma and were ordered held to the grand jury. Pitts and Dawson posted bond while Johnson remained jailed in Dallas County.

London, March 12. Britain today expanded the absolute contraband list. Wool and worsted yarns, wool tops and nails, tin and tin products, castor oil, paraffin wax, copper, iodine, lubricants, hides and leather for military use, ammonia and its salts, urea, aniline and compounds are now forbidden. Foodstuffs for animals become contraband, including oleaginous seeds nuts kernels and animal and vegetable oils and fats. Cotton seed and cotton seed oil products are now conditional contraband.
