Commissioner Laz Schwarz overseeing the police department is asked to propose to the board an appropriation to fund a Rogues Gallery at the police station. The plan envisions a secretary or official in charge of a new information bureau for police and detectives to maintain criminals records missing persons pawn shop photos and related material. A Bertillon system with fingerprints is not deemed feasible.
Vice President and General Manager R. V. Taylor along with Marion J. Wise Comptroller Cc. B. Hayes and Transportation Superintendent E. C. Rendell returned to Mobile from St. Louis. They accompanied President Fairfax Harrison on a Mobile and Ohio inspection tour praised as highly pleasing with cordial receptions along the line.
G H Niblack of Sym e Ala was arrested by Detectives Boltz and boerge on a grand larceny charge. Investigators say a man entered 85 F Busey's room at the Royal Hotel, then left. The next morning Busey's purse containing $18 was missing. Niblack was arrested shortly after 2 AM Wednesday.
The Home Farms Company of Dawes Alabama was incorporated in probate court on Wednesday with capital of 20000 dollars and 5000 dollars initial business. Incorporators are Harry H. Phillips Charles J. Horn and Burwell J Croner all of Chicago Illinois.
Astronomers at the United States Naval Observatory prepare for a near total lunar eclipse, the only one of four eclipses this year visible across the United States. The shadow will cover over nine tenths of the moon, with events starting around 9:41 to 9:46 p.m. Eastern and ending after 12:44 a.m. Thursday.
An almost total lunar eclipse may be observed here Wednesday night. The moon enters penumbra at 8 41 p m Mobile time with visibility rising after 9 41 p m the peak at 10 13 p m and the shadow leaving at 11 44 p m ending at 12 45 a m as it exits the penumbra.
In Portland five days at hard labor on the city rock pile was imposed on W. C. Barker a millionaire clubman after he pleaded guilty to speeding at 50 miles an hour within city limits. The municipal court handed down the sentence yesterday and Barker expected only a fine.
Thirteen balloons will race from Kansas City on October 6 for the Coupe Internationale des Aeronautes. France Germany Belgium and Austria enter. America defends with three balloons, the full permitted entry. Belgium sends another entry from Brussels.
Habeas corpus hearings for four white men arrested in Montgomery on Saturday over suspected involvement in robberies in Alabama and Georgia were postponed until Tuesday. No charges have been filed against the prisoners.
In Coukhatta Mrs Bamberg, aged and wealthy, was bitten by a rabid cat and taken for treatment in Shreveport. In Shreveport a two year old girl was bitten by a rabid animal in her yard. A mad dog in Ponchatoula led to the slaughter of five dairy cows after at large.
Reports say General Kellys unemployed army may be abandoned as 600 of 1,700 deserters remain in Yolo county. Kell y and lieutenants jailed for vagrancy. citizens discuss moving the men 40 miles toward San Francisco with fares paid locally. Martial law continues with saloons closed after dark.
Co N McEntire of Fair Mound Georgia asks Chief Crenshaw for police aid to locate Thomas McEntire believed employed by the Southern Express Company in Mobile about ten years ago. Detective J W Murphy assigned to the case.
General Felix Diaz arrived in Washington with Mexican and American supporters to outline a plan to restore peace in Mexico by recognizing neither Huerta Carranza nor Villa. The group sought U S sanction for aid in an armed revolution though no hearing was granted. Diaz met Senator Root and Senator Fall. others avoided publicity while a New York lawyer pressed for talks with Bryan and Wilson.
The body of John Henry Davis aged 23 who drowned February 17 in Mobile river near One Mile creek when he fell from a small skiff was recovered Tuesday afternoon and turned over to Knox Bros for interment. River men caught the body Monday morning but it washed away en route to the city and was found again Tuesday about 4 p.m. by George Moore.
St Petersburg reports Russia will accept US invitation to take part in the final review at Hampton Roads 1913 celebrating the Panama Canal opening. Names of vessels to proceed to American waters will be published later.

Mrs. Snow, a noted Memphis music teacher, and Snow family ties to Mobile are mentioned.
Salisbury England March 11 two officers of the British army flying corps were killed today when their aeroplane collapsed over the Salisbury plain military aerodrome. Captain C R W Allen of the Welsh Regiment and Lieutenant J E G Burroughs of the Wiltshire Regiment fell to the ground from a high altitude.
Meridian Mississippi March 11 Former Postmaster W J Price who pleaded guilty to embezzling about 4600 of post office funds while he was Postmaster was sentenced to four years in the federal penitentiary at Atlanta A fine of 2734 was imposed.
