Hogs receipts 15 000 market strong with mixed prices from 6 80 to 9 00 per hundred weight. Cattle receipts 10 000 market slow with Texas steers at 7 10 to 8 19 and calves 7 75 to 10 16. Sheep receipts 14 000 market steady with native yearlings around 5 75 to 6 90.
Naval Stores summary from Savannah reports turpentine firm 353 4c sales 172 casks receipts 1 468 casks. Rosin firm sales none receipts 3 202 barrels. Price quotes listed for grades B through N WG WW with ranges from 3.90 to 6.45 dollars.
The market closed nominal and unchanged Friday with no sales recorded compared to 100 bales Thursday. Exports stood at 260 bales, up from 78 bales the same day last year, with grades including good ordinary and good middling.
New Orleans June 13. Cotton futures opened up 8 to 5 points on cables and moved to 6 to 6 points over yesterday. Weather prospects for fair, seasonable temperatures slowed buying while field work continued amid some cold snaps. Spot cotton held at 12 3-8 cents with 485 bales sold and 165 to arrive. Later, futures closed barely steady with a net decline of 9 to 20 points. Open high low close figures given for January March August September October December.
Liverpool reports a firm cotton spot market with strong business and 10 000 bales sold including 9 000 American. Receipts reach 3 000 bales with 2 100 American. Futures quiet and steady with various near term contract quotes in the 6.1x to 6.5x pence per pound range.
The city court grand jury for the May term returns 81 indictments from 188 cases tried and forwards recommendations. They discharge G M Feagin and Joe Benzer on grand larceny charges and urge school improvements except in Oakdale Leinkauf Yerby and Corneill. The Liverpool weekly cotton figures show imports of all kinds at 27 000 bales with American imports 19 000. Total stock stands at 1 020 000 bales with American holdings 840 000. American stock forwarded amounts to 66 000 bales.
