Washington reports say David La mar nicknamed the Wolf of Wall Street may soon face criminal prosecution. Senate lobby investigation witnesses described his brazen conduct and claims of lobbying influence involving J. P. Morgan & Co. and statements to Attorney Ledyard.
In Washington July 11 Martin Mulhall prepared to testify as senate investigators heard Wool tariff items. Whitman explained a $5 000 gift to S S North in 1897 amid a fund whose full handling was unclear. Clark asserted he never spoke with Lamar Lauterbach or Morgan and Company and denied knowledge of Louis Cass Ledyard.

Frederick E. Small formerly of Everett Massachusetts was held in bail of 15000 for conspiracy to use the mails in a scheme to defraud tied to the Brooklyn Arizona Mining Company of which he was president. A Calvin Cruchet, treasurer of American Securities Corporation, faced bail of 16000. Inspectors say at least 2500000 was obtained in New England in the alleged mail swindle.
Raymond Rush aged 16 in Pittsburg confesses he started fires on the north side to see firemen come and gain attention. He admits arson at a library office building causing sixty thousand dollars in damage last December and two more incidents at a furniture store and an apartment building. He is held for further investigation.
The forty ninth Elks reunion in Rochester closes with a ball. Prizes totaling $2590 were awarded for drill in Denver and Cole, the west band in line led by Alexander's band from Wilkes-Barre. Seattle won $260 for greatest aggregate mileage at the convention and $500 for most attractive parade float. Sayre Pennsylvania earned $300 for most unique uniform in line and Buffalo $200 for best appearance in line.
