Rapid cleanup of piers and warehouses along the river front as carpenters contractors and labor gangs clear debris salvage floating or sunken goods. Tug boats tow barges to damaged piers while various vessels move timbers and wreckage from sunken ships.
Gulf Dry Docks officials say over a dozen disabled vessels have secured berths for repairs and many more applications are on file. Mobile waterfront buzzes as wreckage is cleared quickly and repairs proceed. Captain M A Bowen of the Apollo reports repairs near completion and return to service between Mobile and the eastern shore. The Magnolia gasoline launch now operates two daily trips between Mobile and eastern shore points, carrying passengers including Dr and Mrs A G Moses and Mr Frank J Thompson among others.
Mr Thompson and associates marooned at Bay Minette Alabama aboard L N train number one after a Wednesday hurricane. They traveled via Fairhope and battles to reach the Magnolia with Bay Minette suffering property damage but no loss of life on the Eastern Shore. The naptha launch Majestic arrived from Daphne with many aboard including Mr J R Tapia and family.
Mr Tapia said no loss of life had been reported, but nearly every bath house and pier at persue was partially or totally destroyed. Captain Joseph Pose said the Daphne would be in service again by week’s end and run two trips daily between Mobile and Eastern Shore landings. Magnolia and Majestic carried provisions and passengers on return trips.
The Mobile & Ohio line has the only steady wire into Mobile. The Western Union used it last night from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. for AP messages. Two through wires to Meridian were hoped for but not achieved. Postal service has a weak Birmingham link, with possible improvement by night.
Reports from Mobile area towns on the Eastern Shore indicate light overall damage with several exceptions. Piers at Fairhope and Magnolia Beach damaged but repairable. Herron Bay and Coden report heavier losses including several damaged houses and missing schooners. lifeboat rescue crews saved four men after a day without water.
Mobile welcomes a new Globe Steamship Company line with seventeen vessels in its fleet. The Grove, a 665 ton Norwegian steamer, arrived with a dyewood cargo from West Indian ports and weathered the recent storm safely. Mr. H P Davis notes the line will run regular sailings to West Indian and South American ports as details are finalized.
Wireless from the Pensacola naval station reports no lives lost but docks and buildings sustained great damage. This is the first news since Wednesday.
Fourteen Mexicans are reported killed in a fight with three American soldiers near Jenapara in the area west of El Paso Texas. Advices received here say the clash involved U S soldiers and occurred today.

Mr. Davis commends Mobile saying Globe line has built a modern logwood dye plant at Mountain City Tennessee. He notes satisfactory rail service and expects regular sailings to the port for Grove and other vessels. Grove will sail to Curacao and later Belize. James Gibboney & Co. will handle the cargo as local agents.
Mobile county tax equalization board sessions resumed Saturday morning in the same room. Attorney Jere Austill led review of county properties as James K. Glennon plans to appear July 12. Riverfront owners Meaher March Hubbard and Hunter set July 21 hearings on assessments with a stenographer present.

Several escaped drowning. They shelter at Nick Spettel's house on Crab Creek near the Tensaw river. Food must be rushed to them.
Mary Jane Shaw of Sligo and Ghent streets loses home and all belongings when her house is blown down in Wednesday's storm. A nearby resident helps rescue her and her children, and aid appeals follow from J. M. Lavelle and Charles Tew, both reporting total losses and requesting clothing, food, and furniture for their families in Mobile.
Report from Pascagoula indicates two deaths and minor shipping damage along the Mississippi coast. Gulfport Biloxi fared well with limited damage to pecan and orange groves and farms largely intact. Damage ranged from demolished shanties to downed poles and wires between Choctaw Point and Venetia, with lighter effects north toward St Elmo and Theodore.
A severe storm near Grand Bay wrecked a Methodist church in town and razed several small houses. The Pecan railway station roof was damaged, numerous trees were uprooted, and debris stacked high along ten miles of track between Pecan and Orange Grove. An impassable bridge blocked relief trains one mile below Pecan.
Nominal losses in Pascagoula with minimal shipping damage. A schooner and a tug were lost, several crops damaged, and shops and homes affected. Street railway service resumed between Moss Point and Pascagoula. beach service to return Sunday as locals assess losses and recover.
A. B. Gaston of Dawes says Satsuma orange orchards in the Dawes territory escaped serious damage from the Wednesday storm. Some other fruit areas sustained losses while Dawes highlands fared better. A home was damaged, mules reportedly killed, and roads were washed, though travel to Mobile was still possible.
London reports the British push their front toward the French line between Ancre and Monteuban with heavy artillery and large forces. German resistance is stiff as casualties mount. Holland notes German redeployment to meet the Anglo French offensive while Russians advance at Delaty n and others near Baranovichi.
The war office said German forces were repulsed after repeated assaults on French and British lines along both sides of the Somme with heavy casualties reported.
Petrograd reports continued Russian advances in the Czartorysk region after German forces were pushed back yesterday. Russian troops have captured Dotzyea and Gruziatyn.
