Booze Found On Wagon Leads To Arrest In Prohibition Case
A. P. Smith was arrested Tuesday night by Deputies Bernstein and Oberhaus on a charge of violating the prohibition laws. He had a large quantity of beer in bottles on a wagon on Government Street near Royal when taken into custody. Corrine Holt was acquitted in the city court Tuesday of violating the prohibition law. She had been arrested in the Inge building weeks earlier and fined $50 and costs by the recorder. William B. Saunders was fined $50 and costs for violating the prohibition law. Alphonse Zieman and Harry Levert, recently fined by the recorder, announced Tuesday they would withdraw appeals to the city court and seek a rehearing to plead guilty.
