New York Suffrage Leader Elected to Succeed Catt

Mrs Normary de R Whitehouse is chosen to lead the New York State Woman Suffrage Association after Carrie Chapman Catt resigns to head the national group. Whitehouse, a wealthy New York social figure, will assume the presidency in the near term. The FE L Marechal School Improvement Association plans a Friday meeting January 7 1916 at 8 o'clock with Mrs B F Midgett presiding. The Christ Child Society holds a session Wednesday at 11 at MecGill Institute. Regular Dividend Declared by Bank of Mobile

The Bank of Mobile N B A distributes its regular semiannual dividend of 5 percent declared January 1. Officers listed include Michael J. McDermott as president Alfred L Staples as vice president Thomas J O Connor as cashier and R W Byrne as assistant cashier. Staples notes improved business in the last six months of 1915 after widespread depression.

Bank Director Says Mobile Economy Brighter

Mr. Staples reports year end deposits of 1,400,000 and an optimistic outlook for Mobile and regional banking. He cites cautious optimism among businessmen and a brighter start to the new year after three stagnant years.
