Four Vessels Go Down the Channel on New Year’s Day
Four vessels departed and one arrival kept the waterfront lively on New Year’s Day. The schooners Boniform and John L Treat, the Munson line Atlantis, and the barkentine Allenwilde moved through the channel, while the Raven of United Fruit Co arrived with a load. The Atlantis carried cargo to Windward Island ports. John L Treat and Boniform headed to Havana with lumber. Allenwilde carried lumber to Matanzas. Raven carried bananas from Puerto Cortez. The New Year’s wireless greeting from Arlington failed to be received as the government station flashed a message at midnight.
