Fifty men and boys repelled a mob of about a hundred seeking to free Ysidor Gonzales, recently convicted of murdering jailer Harry Hinton in Oakville. Frederico Sanchez, linked to the case, faced a trial today as a co defendant. A separate Mexican was lynched by the mob.
The 2,947 ton Navarra, chartered to the admiralty and en route to France from St John New Brunswick, struck rocks on Holmes Island during the night and began breaking up. No word yet on crew safety.
