First Meltonian Carries Mobile Cotton Cargo to Liverpool

The steamship Meltonian bound for Liverpool sailed from Mobile with 7 110 bales of American cotton in the hold. This marks the season’s first large shipment through the port, following a 2 700 bale prior voyage on the Alexandrian. Regular weekly cotton shipments are planned by Mobile Liners for the Leyland line.

Dreamland Vaudeville Draws Big Crowds at Dreamland Theatre

Dreamland Theatre opened the vaudeville bill on Monday to strong audience enthusiasm with Summers and Empire as headliners praised for singing and comedy. Russell's dancing models and the Carme duo provided notable novelty acts, while Melnotte and Arlington offered a classy farce. Matinees at 3 pm and evening shows at 7:30 and 9 pm featured Vitagraph shorts and Lubin features.

Second Montoso steamer nears Mobile from Frisco line

The Montoso, second steamship for Sudden & Christen son Line, is due in Mobile harbor late Tuesday night or Wednesday morning after traveling from San Francisco. Freight gathered at Turner Hartwell Docks includes pig iron cast iron sail pipe timber and staves from Birmingham Vicksburg Memphis and other points. Horace Turner, line agent, says about seven hundred tons will be loaded at New Orleans with much cargo already in Mobile. The Peter H Crowell completed its inaugural trip and is nearing quarantine.
