Northwest fruit growers form league to regulate apple trade
Five hundred Pacific Northwest growers, Peakers, railroad officials and business leaders met after the national apple show to organize a Northwest Deciduous Fruit League. The group will seek uniform laws on apple boxes and grades, educate growers, and address demurrage and freight rates while excluding marketing and price setting. A Walla Walla meeting December 18 will plan data gathering on output waste and by product plants. The North Pacific Fruit Distributors headquartered in Spokane already handles marketing.
