Oldest Pine Recorded At 459 Years In Idaho Forests
E H Hodson, head of forest investigations, finds a yellow pine aged 459 years in Carpenter creek district Payette forest. The tree lacks great diameter but yields logs and the survey notes 11 000 to 20 000 board feet per acre on sunny south slopes with trees up to 268 years showing mean annual growth of twenty seven feet.

Carlisle Pa December 6 Miss Mary Rock who died in Chambersburg this week at age seventy three had spent fifty years of that time growing a tree in volume. An autopsy showed her digestive system normal and able to eat solids. Local physicians call it a remarkable hypochondriacal case. At eighteen she overheated, drank water, then believed her stomach could not hold solids and subsisted on candy. She remained active throughout life.
