Papers Safe Says Buenz In Hands Of German Embassy

New York December 1 The Hamburg American Line official Dr Karl Buenz testified in a U S district court trial that the line's agreement to supply German cruisers at sea involved coal and supplies on neutral ships from American ports. He said all related correspondence was turned over to the German government via the Berlin embassy and that German cables were removed for safety. Buenz described payments and arrangements with neutral ships and noted contact with German naval attaché Captain Boy Ed. He testified he expected relief ships to carry empty holds to destination ports after transferring supplies. He claimed no intent to deceive United States authorities and viewed the U S as a friendly power.
