New York August 1 The cotton market surged about 1.75 a bale following the government crop report. Prices rose rapidly after the report showed 172.3 percent condition versus 81.1 last month and 78.5 average. December contracts climbed from 13.28 to 13.63, about 85 points above morning low and 24 points above last night’s close.
The county board of equalization will reconvene Wednesday to inspect all property 100 feet or more east of Royal Street for reassessment. The session will cover territory from Leauregard Street to Monroe Street and include house to house inspections.
