Virginia and the daring rescue at the seashore
A young man recalls an incident at a summer shore party where Virginia McGregor nearly drowns after being swept out by a whirlpool. He saves her, clinging to a gold chain and key, and later returns the items after the McGregor family honors his rescue. The tale weaves memory, a mysterious keepsake, and a confessed infatuation set against a seaside mishap.
