Battleship Michigan launched at New York Shipyard
Camden New Jersey May 26 the battleship Michigan was launched at the New York Shipbuilding yard. Ming Carel Barnes Newberry daughter of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy christened the ship. The Michigan is more than half completed with heavy armament planned including eight 12 inch rifles and two submerged torpedo tubes. It will accommodate 51 officers and 818 men at an estimated cost of 3 586 000 dollars. The vessel is expected to reach half speed.

Panic at Funeral in Cam Tack village causes injuries
In Muncie Indiana on May 26 a funeral at Christian Friends church in Cam Tack village was interrupted by a lightning strike that tore through the roof and damaged the belfry injuring a dozen mourners. The service resumed after the disruption and the funeral proceeded. A suspect later confessed to killing his wife and was questioned by police. coroner's inquest followed. Red Pepper Tactics Fail in Jefferson Bank Hold-Up
In New York on May 26 a trio of highwaymen attacked Joseph Eider and Samuel Adelmann near the Jefferson bank on Canal Street. They threw red pepper in the victims’ faces, slashed Adelmann and Eider, and corpses of onlookers aided by Officer Gillon subdued one assailant while the others fled. Police restored order hours later with Sth Street station reserves called to the scene.
