Old Sailor Arrested as Drunk and Ordered Out
James Caldwell a frail seventy nine year old man was arraigned in police court this morning for drunkenness. He was found wandering in an alley by Officer Wilhelm and told the mayor he had sailed the world. The mayor gave him one hour to leave town and Caldwell claimed to be on his way to Lima poor house. Ruptured lines from the city report show continued petty crime including a burglary at Ohio Milling and Elevator. More details show several arrests for intoxication and loitering with fines and brief jail time, including James Sullivan whose suspended workhouse sentence hinges on leaving Marion for a year.
