In Chicago on March 26 three night workers dressed as civilians hijacked a cab, robbed the driver, and threw him into a hotel basement before robbing pedestrians. Officer Murphy pursued in a pistol duel. the getaway car eluded him, and one robber was found dead in the seat from a bullet wound. The other outlaw was believed injured.
Columbus March 26 The legislative probe of the Ohio penitentiary devolved into farce amid personal bickering among committee members. A. Q. Lane resigned decrying the lack of program and opportunity to meet the panel. Senator Ward lamented the chairmanship was not ratified.
