Senate committee on behalf of Senator Howe recommends passage of a bill creating a state penitentiary site in Columbia Ohio. The plan calls for a combined group of experts to select land and oversee construction. The site must cover between 1000 and 2500 acres.

Indianapolis March 18 The United Mine Workers national convention will receive two scale committee reports this afternoon after an early adjournment. The majority report favored by President Mitchell supports settlement by districts. the minority led by Vic Lewis pushes postponement until after April 1 to gain operator buy in. The convention reconvened without a report ready and an effort was made to prevent Lewis from offering his minority view.
Berlin reports Prince Joachim Albert of Prussia, cousin to the Emperor, resigns his major post after friction with Emperor William over his alleged relationship with Baroness Liebenberg once Marie Sulzer. The prince and the baroness reportedly lived incognito in Prussia while a marriage and divorce scheme allegedly involving a title purchase hovered over the couple.
Velnetpal J. Schloss detected cigarette odor and found three boys in the McKee school basement. A brick snake whip and a loaded 22 caliber revolver were recovered, indicating recent discharge. The youths had been discussing the wild west.
In Wooster Ohio on March 18 Judge Morris Huckwalter of Cincinnati and two drug store clerks face a $5000 damages suit.
