Marion Targets Black Hand Gangs in City
Marion becomes the headquarters for a Black Hand gang accused of using mail threats to extort from merchants. Federal officers arrest Bam Lima and Joe Riso, search Lima’s North Main Street store, and seize letters that may reveal plots. Additional arrests are anticipated as investigations continue in the region. The case will be tried in Toledo with Lima and Rizo held in jail amid heightened security. Memorial services for Canby Lodge and Marion Lodge are planned for Sunday.
