London reports India faces dangerous mutiny risks. Officials fear mass bloodshed if rebellions spread. Europeans total about six hundred thousand amid a 200 million native population. Army officers and civilians arriving from India warn of worsening tensions and potential conflict.
The Hague reported that battleships Heemskerch Plethin and Ryertsen and cruisers Holland Utrecht and Friest are to assemble in the West Lodies. The commander of the Far East squadron is alerted to ready the fleet for dispatch to Venezuela on short notice. The ministry of marine is negotiating for additional small fast steamships to reinforce a potential blockade of Venezuelan ports.
Chicago July 20 Independence party nominates Thomas J Hisgen for president with John Temple Graves as vice president on the first national convention ticket. The process triggers a near riot as J J Shepard proponents push for Bryan nomination. Graves declared unanimous later as other candidates withdraw.
Chillicothe July 20. Shortly after 4 in the afternoon a threshing outfit was wrecked when a stick of dynamite in a sheaf of wheat exploded on J. N. Dyer’s farm near Good Hope. All hands escaped serious injury by a miracle. An investigation is to be conducted.
Maccol Nebraska July 29 A United Press rep secured from a close friend of W J Bryan the first authentic outline of his campaign plans. He will deliver speeches at central points, most in October. During October he will stay at home to aid the educational effort with interviews signed articles and letters on public questions.
On the Indomitable Britain's greatest cruiser the Princes of Wales departed for England this morning. The voyage aims to set a new fastest time across the Atlantic eclipsing prior records as a major feat of nautical speed.
In Paris on July 29 a son of Mrs. William K. Vanderbilt by her first marriage died in an auto accident near Voinay. The chaffeaur was fatally injured. initial reports misidentified the victim as W. K. Vanderbilt Sr. A later correction said the Vanderbilt car was involved, dispelling the earlier confusion in the American colony.
Judge William H. Taft received full honorary membership in the International Steam Shovelers Union at 11 oclock today, conferred at the home of the organizers in Cincinnati Ohio, in a ceremony praising his support for the industry.
Dispatches from Canton report 12 000 people drowned as a typhoon hit Hong Kong and coast provinces. The storm caused extensive damage with ships wrecked and many lives lost. Officials describe it as one of the worst natural disasters in years.
International officers of Union were cordially received by Judge Taft. After receiving the badge and credentials, Taft gave a brief speech praising their work on the Tethons. Taft plans to depart Cincinnati for Hot Springs, Virginia, for about a month before returning for the campaign.
Cincinnati Ohio July 2 police seek the identity of a man who fired a shotgun from a house boat at the steamer Duland Queen on the Ohio River during fireworks. Several people were struck by flying shot but none seriously injured. Taft witnessed the incident from the boat.

Representative Stockwell presses Attorney General Ellis to sue to annul contracts between State Treasurer McKinnon and banks in which he is a stockholder. He accuses officers of letting others profit from the state’s funds and notes McKinnon’s health and absence from Ohio. The caustic letter demands immediate suit to null the contracts and recover interest.
