Indianapolis, Dec. 22 President Lewis of the United Mine Workers delivered a statement to local unions warning that an organized effort to destroy the union’s power is under way. He urged concerted action, dropping petty quarrels, and sending delegates to the national convention next month to stand firm amid threats and internal dissension.
A Maine father of the Hall brothers, charged in the murder of William Andin, shows concern over recent testimony by Mire Auntie Yowtayday. The testimony is seen as damaging to the defense, implicating Thornton Hall in the plot. A Whitton report adds a continuation to the story.

Cincinnal reports George Frondort, a dairy farmer, was pulled from an icy creek this morning after spending the night in freezing water. His horses reportedly threw him into the stream before he was submerged and later revived. He remained unconscious upon rescue.
Aberdeen reports Curie Nation is slated as the main attraction in London music halls in the coming months with a proposal for a series of speeches. She will probably accept.
Youngstown attorney Theoore Johnson was rescued from his burning home by neighbors and firemen after being found unconscious inside. The dwelling was destroyed and Johnson was reported near death before the rescue.
Sir Thomas Lipton abandons plans to challenge for the 1908 America's Cup. The race plan is canceled after Lipton fails to reach terms with the New York Yacht Club, with conditions for the event not agreed.
A government investigation is filtering its work and preparing a report due January 1. The document will be sent to the president and Congress and will recommend actions the government could take to support the farm lift movement.
Duhring Virginia December reports a wounded man, George Arigeer, taken from jail by a mob on the first night. He was beaten by Ed Bell, another hunting companion, and left for dead but revived. Authorities note a grim prognosis as he drags himself to a nearby house.
Lincoln and Havelock war service suspended after vandalism and arson on trestles. Holmes charged with murdering his wife. 12 year old son Howard allegedly attacked his mother, who died from a brain hemorrhage during the incident. Grand jury investigation pending.
The Britley cotton steamer Inada wrecked in a storm off Point Mizzenhead, Caxhaven Germany, December 22. The captain and six crew members drowned while sixty five crew survived after terrible experiences. 21,000 bales of cotton were destroyed.
Millersburg and several towns go dry after Holmes County’s election returns show a 99 percent dry majority. Glenmont Killbuck Nash ville Holmeryne and others vote dry while only two precincts go wet. Four saloons and two divilleries shut down as a result.
