A government directive during 1916 suspends the use of adhesive seals and stickers on mail to speed delivery and handling. Postmasters are told to inform patrons that such seals should not be placed on the address side of letters while lawful postage remains required.
The 1915 assessed valuation of Adams County reaches 804 015 dollars with levies totaling 123 888 dollars for school, township, village, and county purposes. The funds support schools, roads, bridges, county offices, poor relief, insane and feeble minded care, and debt service.

Last Friday noon a fire broke out in the Bea ton Bros Garage repair shop on Main Street. Smoke rose in great clouds as the chemical engines fought the blaze while water pressure was restored. Owner Joe Beaton says a vulcanizing machine left lit while the operator dined overheated tires and started the oil soaked building. Loss is estimated at 500 with no insurance.
