Mrs. Odelle C. Gray begins as registar and psychology instructor at Lee Junior College after wartime service in the Coast Guard. Born in Abilene Texas she taught at London High School and studied at the University of Texas earning an M A. She enjoyed swimming skiing travel and meeting people and notes the Tri Cities humidity as a common complaint.

Lee Junior College reports 420 students enrolled for the fall semester 1947-48, close to last year’s 437. Dean Walter Rundell notes 275 men and 145 women, with 148 veterans including four ex-members of the women’s auxiliary. Earlier years’ figures could not be obtained.

Dean Walter Rundell announced four scholarships for Lee Junior College freshmen. Joyce Peet of Barbers Hill won the Elks scholarship valued at 125 dollars. Ramona Holcomb of Goose Creek and Eutha Carpenter of Baytown each received 100 dollar awards from the Citizens National Bank and Trust Company. Loraine Stephan of Highlands earned the AAAW scholarship worth 50 dollars.

Humble Employee Joins LIC Faculty In September
Mark W Eakin new instructor in business administration replaces Mrs Fern Lane who resigned. Eakin has lived in the Tri Cities five years and previously worked in accounting at Humble Refinery Baytown. He was principal of Montgomery High School ten years and holds BA and MA degrees from Baylor and Colorado State College of Education.

Lee Junior College staff enjoyed a busy summer with travels and study. Dramas, chemistry, and English faculty split time among ranches in Colorado, Carlsbad Caverns, New York City, Toronto, and university programs in Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico while pursuing courses, theses, and special trips.
Scores Available On Psyco Exam
Freshmen at L. J. C. receive guidance based on psychological test scores announced by Dean Walter Rundell.
