Dean Walter Rundell announces a one day registration window for the summer term starting Monday June 2 in the east wing of the Robert E Lee building. Veterans receive a separate form. fees and receipts handled in the college office with a $1 late fee after June 2.
A 13 member Lee Pre Engineering Society explored Sheffield Steel Corporation in Houston on Monday May 5. Host W F Bates guided the group through the steel process from red hot ingots to finished nails and wire products. Attendees included Paul Ponce Leon Harmon Hart Stanford Sanders Hunter Oscar Hunter Wendell Brown H P McAlister William Duarte Marvin Seiver and instructors Alvin Miles Charles Bonner George Nelson Joseph Harris. The group plans a return visit to see missed processes.
The fourteen annual catalogue of LIC should be ready for distribution in late June, says Dean Walter Rundell. A Texas Legislature bill delays one entry, but typing will start once word is definite, with a dummy ready for printers early in June. Copies go to local graduates, state colleges, other publishers, and agencies.
The notice states property and breakage deposits will be refunded May 26 to June 30 1947. Office hours May 26–30 run 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Grades mailed May 26 and library books due by May 21. Transcripts available with fees for extra copies. Cafeteria hours during finals listed by date.
The LIC faculty plans a Round-Up breakfast in the cafeteria on May 18 at 8 30 in honor of graduates. Committees include general chairman Mrs Lynn O Hagan and members Barham Robertson Koenig Moskowitz and others. Fifty five graduates were invited and asked to confirm attendance by contacting Miss Moskowitz at 438 or the LJC office.
The registrar announces the first semester summer session schedule with courses in Math 804 310 B A 1 2a 3 18 307 308 Economics 312 Government 10a History 5a English 1a 12a Chemistry 801a Physics 801a. Six teachers will teach including Miss Ruby Barham and Messrs Charles Bonner James Chamberlain Alvin H Miles George H Nelson and J F Koenig. Registration begins June 2.
Typewritten letters were sent to LJC veterans on May 9 urging support for pending GI Bill subsistence legislation. Students were asked to obtain signatures from private citizens and mail them to Congressman Albert Thomas for this district.
Members of the LC Curtain Club attended the Houston Little Theater presentation of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest. Attendees included Mrs. Lynn O'Hagan director and 12 club members, with remarks by Dr. Taylor on parental responsibility.
