A scattered campus column mixes quips about Bright Lights Billy Crist and Pete Robinson with satire on student finances and social quirks. It notes installment plans for annuals, asks readers to sign over deposits, and jokes about lipstick finds and the Basket Maker Indians helping popcorn history.
Lambda Chi, a new social and service fraternity at Lee College, elected officers and sent bids to twelve students. Dan Lamb is president, Albert Muller vice president, Henry Henderson secretary, and Kenneth Baird historian. all are charter members and officers. Bids went to Roland Laird Curtis Sowell J. C. Buchanan Joe Don Dollar Kenneth Walter Taylor Filler Russel Bailey Jack Caldwell Billy Roe Robertson Ray Mason and Robert Holstead.
Mr. Mark Eakin registrar asks students using the college office telephone to keep calls brief and conversations short to reduce congestion and maintain access for others.
Forty six nominations are in for the Lee Log favorite section with elections set for Thursday November 3 using the usual preferential ballot. Voters are urged to mark numbers by all named. Ballot names include Lois Helen Bedinger Helen Morgan Jack Alford Russell Bailey Taylor Miller Albert Jacobs Joe Dollar and many others across sophomores and freshmen with designated Beauties and Popular groups.
Students will have portraits taken in the auditorium on November 8 9 and 10 between 6 and 9 PM. Two poses and two proofs cost one dollar using a studio portrait camera. Boys should wear ties and coats while girls dress as they wish. Appointments available and runners will announce open periods.
Curtain Club announces partial cast for two social comedies to be staged in November. Sponsor Mrs. Lynn O Hagan stated details and selections completed so far.
The Lee College Choir is invited to sing at the Southern Association of Junior Colleges and Southern Association of Women’s Colleges convention to be held at the Rice Hotel in Houston on November 29. Repertory includes God Be In My Head and Po’ Good Jesus, with a Dec assembly program featuring The Wedding by John Kirkpatrick and The Bridegroom Waits by Hayes with an all female cast.
Nine week grades will be ready in the office Wednesday November 9 announced registrar Mr Mark Eakin.
A Lee school survey gathers student definitions of conceit. Responses vary from conceit as self focus and arrogance to claims that many see conceit as rude behavior or overestimation, with notable quotes from Joe Chandler Gilbert Dietz Anne Schmadl and others.
Jack Carpenter and Wayland Cohoe are named amateur photographers for the Lee Log. They will photograph wide subjects for the annual and accept student pictures for printing. negatives may be returned but pictures cannot. Contact Mr. Konig, sponsor, to submit snapshots.
