Thirty full time students earned honor roll points as Mark W. Eakin announces. Harold Robinson led with 60 points, followed by Jack Carpenter 54 and others with 51 to 36 points. 39 students received honorable mention for A grades across registered courses.
A lighthearted roundup notes perfume ads in Chicago triggering scent in print and a baked ham aroma lingering in papers. It also covers radio station slips from Denton Texas and a tongue in cheek quip about making mountain dew in labs.
Registrar Mark Eakin says students must sign a loyalty oath. about twenty five pledges remain unsigned. He notes signing is required for the school to receive state subsistence payments.
Fourteen Lee College students were elected November 3 to school honors with Lois Bedinger and Jack Alford leading as top representatives. The Lee Log sponsor J. F. Koenig noted winners across faculties with plans to transfer students to Baylor North Texas and UT.
Sadie Hawkins is coming to LC with a university dance and a Dogpatch parade. The event features a 7 30 pm dance at Baytown Junior High gym and a 10 am parade along Texas Avenue with Lil Abner chase scenes. Admission is nine cents to deter riff raff.
A Lee College survey asks students if mid term changes to a Monday Wednesday Friday or Tuesday Thursday schedule would disrupt their plans. Many non working students favor the change to help working peers. fulltime working students mostly oppose or support based on individual needs.
Eleven new members were initiated into the Zeta Nu chapter of Phi Theta Kappa on Wednesday after school at Citizens National Bank recreation room. Joe Don Dollar led the ceremony with Pauline Malazzo and Dorothy Gierisch assisting. Initiates included J. M. Reager, Jackie Alford, Ida Mae Spurlock, Harold Revnson, Lester Robinson, Yvonne Torris, Dorothy Soileau, De Williams, Lara Fiebel, Annette Costley and Cecil Scott.
