Student Council selects the band for the Confederate Ball on Feb 25 after weighing costs against Hootenanny. Sand Mountain singers to play Dec 21 Hootenanny, enabling greater spend for the Ball. Admission set at $2 per couple.
Lee College plans a two year mid-management program in business to train potential supervisors and junior executives. The course meets one night weekly for three hours, five semester hours per semester toward an Applied Arts Degree. A cooperative plan with local business firms will provide paid on the job training alongside classes.
Pianist Robert Brownlee of the University of Houston music department will present a concert in the Lee College auditorium at 10 10 a m Thursday as part of the Lyceum Series. He will play Scarlatti Beethoven and Chopin works. all classes are dismissed for the assembly.
Students who ordered photographs from Parker Photographers may pay final amounts and collect prints from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in the Public Relations office. Already paid photos and proofs from the November 7 shoot are available anytime in the PR office. Students must select yearbook poses immediately. if not chosen by Friday, the yearbook staff will decide.
December events include Lyceum on the first, All-College Sing, Bayshore Music Concert, SHSC Orientation, French Club Party, REB dance, BSU Banquet, Curtain Club performances of Mad Woman of Chaillot, Hootenanny, Christmas holidays and Optiette Carols. January covers Dead Week, Exams, Registration, Spring Term begins, Street dance. February Confederate Ball. March Curtain Club musical, Senior Night, Western Week. April Field Day and Picnic. May Curtain Club performances.
The second annual Circle K Sing Song will be held at 8 p.m. Friday co sponsored by Circle K and the Music Club. Nearly every Lee College club participates with Circle K Club Music Club and Choir in the event though not in competition. The choir offers three selections including Oklah Hamlet. John Drouilhet and Miss Brenda Cooper perform in Circle Kttes skits Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and a folk singing group will sing about freedom. The show is open to the public with participation planned for many clubs across campus.
Oscar Hightower, the janitor burned in a recent flash fire, is reported doing fine. His sister-in-law says he has been moved to the Veterans Hospital and that his left hand is healing well with skin grafting expected soon.
December 9 and 10 mark the Curtain Club's first production The Madwoman of Chaillot performed at Lee College Auditorium under director Thurman Rowlett with sets by Jack McLendon. Student director Alex Poloschez leads a cast including Ragpicker Hilliary Shepard Countess Aurelia Pierre and Baron Rick Roudoux in the multilingual comedy.
