Patsy Holcomb Named Editor for 1961 Lee LOG

Patsy Holcomb will edit the 1961 edition of the Lee LOG sponsored by T. E. Rowlett Jr. She has been assistant editor this year and edited two issues of the Lantern and served as Lee College correspondent for the Baytown Sun. Others named include Linda Mills as business manager and Sally Sholes as sophomore editor.

Lee College to Offer Associate of Arts Degree Next Year

Lantern reports Lee College will implement an Associate of Arts degree with stricter requirements while continuing the current diploma. New offerings include general business and secretarial certificates, a physics course for engineers, analytic geometry and calculus for freshman engineers, plus several music courses. Division heads are Wayne Gregory, John Ellis, and Charles Stephenson.

Green Grow The Lilacs Adds Laurels To Curtain Club

Lee College Curtain Club staged Green Grow the Lilacs by Lynn Riggs. The play set in 1900 Oklahoma follows Laurey Williams and Curly McClain, with Jeeter Fry as rival and Curly's jail escape. Positive audience response cited with refined staging and music by Dorothea Schulze.

All-School Picnic Set for June 2 at Texas Park

An all-school picnic is scheduled for Thursday June 2 from 11 to 4 at the Texas Bafa diene Park. Attendees should bring their own lunch while soft drinks will be provided.

The annual breakfast honors the 1960 Lee College graduates and School Board members. It will be held in the cafeteria on May 29 at 8 30 with Lee College instructors hosting. Dean Rundell will give the benediction and welcome.

Three Additions To Fall Faculty At Lee College

Lee College announces three new faculty hires for the fall term. Allen E Bailey will teach mathematics and comes from New Mexico State University Las Cruces New Mexico He is 31 and father of two. Evelyn Benton joins the library staff as assistant librarian She holds a degree from Oklahoma State University and is married with two children ages 5 and 7 Her husband works in Humble in a technical library John R Guemple will become director of nonacademic courses He is administrative assistant for the evening division at Baylor University He is 31 and married.

Artists Show Semester Work At College Exhibition

An exhibition of student art is on display at the college featuring drawings paintings and sculpture. The show showcases semester work by students across disciplines.

Lee College Graduation to Feature Westmoreland Address

Dr E Hermond Westmoreland will speak at the Lee College commencement in the Robert E Lee High auditorium on June 3 at 8 pm with 125 diplomas to be awarded. Dean Walter Rundell will honor graduates and George H Gentry will present diplomas. The ceremony includes invocations, benediction, and music by the college choir and organ.

Meet the Faculty Promoting P E at Lee College

Al ton Laird serves as Dean of Student Life and Director of Athletics at Lee College. Born in Mississippi, he grew up in Baytown, earned a fast track Lee College degree, and holds a master's in Physical Education and Administration from the University of Houston. He previously taught at Robert E. Lee High School and coached at Lee College.
